“This past academic year, I was fortunate enough to have Janet Obi tutor me for the ATCL diploma. As a mature student, I was aware that I would need a certain amount of patience and confidence-building from my teacher. Janet provided this in every way and was entirely supportive, encouraging and her wealth of experience meant that I left each tutorial feeling full of self-belief. Each hourly lesson was thorough and absorbing and ultimately I was very well prepared for both units of the diploma and was thrilled to achieved distinction in both papers at the end of the year. I found Janet to be an exemplary teacher and if I could pass on even a little of her skill to my own pupils, I would be delighted!”
“After hearing Dr Janet Obi-Keller perform as part of the Wordsworth Piano Duo at the London College of Music UWL where I was studying a BMus, I hoped I could meet Janet for advice and coaching. Janet has coached me in challenging solo piano and piano duet repertoire. I cannot thank Janet enough for her advice and insight especially in preparing for live performance. My lessons with Janet will continue both sharing the enjoyment of music and our enthusiasm in learning.”
“Janet taught me piano for more than ten years. Out of all the piano teachers I had, I always came back to learn with Janet because her teaching, techniques and vast knowledge of repertoire pushed me to pass numerous piano exams. I always felt confident preparing for examinations with her, often a scary prospect especially when first starting to learn piano. Her teaching methods really motivated me to keep practising and discovering new challenging pieces.”
“Miss Janet has been my music teacher for the past two years. I’m very privileged to have her as my tutor and value her advice and genuine concern to see that I achieve the best results. Her excellent teaching methods and education has helped to further my music studies up to Masters’ level and also pass my ATCL. I enjoyed the lessons learning new techniques, repertoires, how to plan out lesson plans (teaching) as it has benefited me greatly. I would highly recommend Miss Janet to anyone who is looking for a good music teacher.”

“Janet’s combined abilities of musicianship, scholarship and administrative flair make her a formidable player in any musical team, as happy to serve as to lead, always prepared and always positive. Janet is a talented manager who balances imagination, decision making, flexibility and productivity with good humour: a privilege to work with, a pleasure to know.”
“Janet is an inspirational and gifted teacher and a phenomenal musician with an unparalleled facility on the piano. Her knowledge of music is vast and diverse, and her superb communication skills enable her to share concepts and educate musicians of every skill level, from beginner to virtuoso. Janet has the rare ability to completely place herself in the student’s viewpoint, to understand the challenges that they face, and to use this insight to tailor her teaching to fit their particular needs. She is warm, genial, and selfless with her time, always willing to go the extra bar.”
“I studied for my ATCL alone, and after completing the written work, I was advised to ask Janet Obi to go over it to ensure I’d covered everything before submission. Her advice and way of marking was incredibly helpful in terms of how such a document should be written, as well as the content. Janet pointed out areas which I had not covered but which examiners would look for, and emailed me useful links for further reading material, extending my own knowledge of teaching. All in all, Janet gave me the confidence to know that my final submission was the best I could do and had ‘ticked all the boxes’. The final result on this written part of the diploma was 92%. Her expertise in the subject, and way of teaching is outstanding and I would recommend her to any students.”
